Eco Dryer Sheets

December 14, 2011

Many of the traditional dryer sheets on the market contain toxic chemicals that can be irritating and harmful to your family’s skin.  In fact, some of the chemicals in these sheets like Ethanol and Ethyl Acetate are on the Environmental Protection Agency’s hazardous waste list. It’s time to ditch the dryer sheets, don’t you think?

Fortunately, you don’t have to give up fresh smelling clothes, too. The secret to fresh scented clothes that won’t harm you or the environment is essential oils. They’ll help make your clothes smell like summer, even in the middle of winter. Go to your local health food store and find some essential oils that please your sniffer. Drop a few drops onto a wet washcloth and place it in the dyer with a load of laundry. Your clothes will come out smelling like heaven.

Bonus – no dryer sheet waste. Instead of throwing away a dryer sheet each time you dry a load of laundry, you can reuse the washcloth over and over.
