Happy winter! As the weather turns colder, curling up with a warm drink and a good book is a perfect way to spend a night. So grab a book (or your eReader), kick off your shoes and slip your feet into warm slippers, and make yourself one of these drinks that will warm you through.
Hot Spiked Cider – Dried apples and currents get “drunk” with applejack brandy, and they’re added to fresh apple cider that’s flavored withcloves, star anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and rum. If this doesn’t warm you up, I don’t know what will!
Hot White Chocolate – Totally different and totally delish, this white hot chocolate has just a bit of coffee in it to give it some umph. Half and half makes it particularly rich, but you can lighten it up by using the milk of your choice. Yum!
Homemade Peppermint Mocha–Have you had one of those Starbucks Peppermint Mochas lately? They’re like drinking a melted Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie. Totally to die for. You don’t have to head out in the cold for one; you can make your own. Cocoa powder, milk, sugar, strong brewed coffee and peppermint extract are all you need to recreate this delicious treat at home.
