The Beauty of Motherhood

May 9, 2012

We all have a different definition of what motherhood means. I can tell you in my experience being a mother is by far the best gift I have ever been given. Sure, before I had children my life was perhaps a bit easier, but it certainly was not as fulfilling as it is now.
I remember the moment when my heart swelled with pure love when I gave birth to my first son. I had never experienced that kind of love before. Of course, I had loved and been loved by many people in my life, but for me those experiences were totally different than the love I had for my child. It’s one of those experiences that’s hard to explain, but I have a feeling some of you get it.
Three years later, my second son was born, and wouldn’t you know it, my capacity to love in that way doubled. Now I felt pure love for two wonderful little boys.  How lucky can one person get? I get to raise these beautiful sons with my husband. I watch them change month to month. I get to teach them to be responsible and how to take their place in the world by helping them be successful with what they love and teaching them to have giving spirits.
You know I have a business that I love, but there is no greater joy for me than being a mother. It amazes me how quickly they’ve grown. My boys are now 12 and 9, and it feels like just yesterday they were born.  Being a mother is a life long commitment, one that I joyfully take on! I thank my lucky stars everyday that I have been given the gift of motherhood.
I say to all the mothers out there, “Enjoy your time with your children”.   Maybe stirring mac and cheese isn’t the most glamorous job in the world, but one day I can  promise you that you will miss doing it.   Remember that the days are long but the years are short.   So be thankful for your little gifts and be sure to enjoy your Mother’s Day because I am certain you deserve to!”
