We Can All Be Trailblazers

January 11, 2015

There’s a little celebrating going on around here right now. Today, the South Jersey chapter of The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) announced their 2015 honorees, and I am humbled to be among them. Next month at the 2015 Beyond the Glass Ceiling Awards Gala, I’ll receive the Trailblazer of the Year Award and join 10 other fantastic women who will be honored that evening.

The Trailblazer award is given to someone who is “first to explore, develop or research a new product, service, trade, medicine, technique, venture, etc. Someone who is the first to lead.”

This honor means so much to me. I’m truly inspired by the women I meet who run their own businesses and work tirelessly to achieve their dreams. To be recognized as a trailblazer and a leader by other women in business – women I admire greatly – is a compliment I’m still wrapping my head around.

The gala will be held at The Mansion in Voorhees next month. I’m looking forward to the festivities, especially because it will be both an awards ceremony and a celebration of the 40th anniversary of NAWBO. I owe a great debt of gratitude to the decades of women who have blazed a trail before me with their women-owned businesses, and to receive the Trailblazer of the Year Award during this milestone year is extra special to me.
